The sixth season of the annual Play of the Day betting competition between the Sun's sports staff is now under way, effective July 1.

Bankrolls start at $10,000 for each of the four participants, with the objective to increase it as much as possible over the next year. The minimum daily wager is $300, with a $200 penalty assessed for failing to place a bet on an assigned day.

Past winners are Case Keefer in 2018-19 and 2017-2018, Ray Brewer in 2016-2017 and 2015-2016, and Taylor Bern in 2014-2015.

Bills at Texans, Total Under 44 — $550 to win $500: Here’s all you need to know about the Bills: 12 of their 16 games stayed under the points total, including five of their last six games.

Buffalo relies on its rushing attack, which keeps the clock moving to help games stay under. More important, the Bills offense is one of the league’s worst in scoring 19 points per game. They are a 10-win playoff team because of a defense that surrenders just 16 points a contest. Hello, under.

Of course, the narrative is consistent during the NFL playoffs: Many teams, especially those in close games, become deliberate in their offensive approach. Draining the clock is equally important to scoring points.

The Texans are a minus-2.5 favorite against the Bills, meaning the outcome likely won’t be decided until the end. It’s safe to assume both teams will try to control the clock throughout.

Current Standings: Grimala (11-5, $9,165), Keefer (22-20-2, $7,575), Emerson (11-16, $6,650), Brewer (9-10, $6,045)
