Vegas Play of the Day: Bucks at Lakers

Fri, Mar 6, 2020 (12:21 p.m.)

The sixth season of the annual Play of the Day betting competition between the Sun's sports staff is now underway, effective July 1.

Bankrolls start at $10,000 for each of the four participants, with the objective to increase it as much as possible over the next year. The minimum daily wager is $300, with a $200 penalty assessed for failing to place a bet on an assigned day.

Past winners are Case Keefer in 2018-19 and 2017-2018, Ray Brewer in 2016-2017 and 2015-2016, and Taylor Bern in 2014-2015.

Milwaukee Bucks moneyline plus-110 at Los Angeles Lakers: $400 to win $440:

People like to look at a regular season game and declare it an NBA Finals preview so excuse me when I say ... this could absolutely be an NBA Finals.

The Lakers have been on a warpath this season, leading the Western Conference by five games and looking like they will cruise into the playoffs with home-court advantage throughout the conference championship round. They've lost seven times at home all season and are the betting favorite to go the Finals. There is maybe one team better than them.

The issue is they're taking them on tonight. If the Lakers are on a warpath, then the Bucks have already salted the earth long ago. Giannis Antetokounmpo has taken his game into a new stratosphere this season and has helped the Bucks to an eye-popping 53-9 record. Their road record eclipses even Los Angeles' home mark. Milwaukee is for real, and one-ups the Lakers as the betting favorite to win it all.

You're not going to get the Bucks at plus-money very often. Take the chance when you get it.

Current Standings: Grimala (15-5, $9,365), Keefer (28-26-2, $8,275), Brewer (15-12, $7,795), Emerson (14-16, $6,150)
