Kerr-McGee's chemical company near Henderson has been recognized by the County Commission for making it through 1 million hours without an accident that caused workers to lose time.

Plant Manager Pat Corbett and senior safety specialist Greg Cowley received a plaque from commissioners Tuesday in recognition of the feat.

The plant, with 260 employees, was recognized by the Chemical Manufacturers' Association in 1992 for improving industry safety and reducing injury frequency.

Kerr-McGee produces ammonium perchlorate, a rocket fuel component used in the space shuttle. It is situated in the Basic Management Inc. industrial complex in the southeast valley.
