Decatur to get traffic relief

Thu, Apr 18, 1996 (11:59 a.m.)

Traffic headaches on Decatur Boulevard may be getting some relief soon, thanks to the City Council, which voted to build more lanes starting in May.

After the work is done, there will be three lanes in each direction between Vegas and Rancho drives.

The move is the latest in a string of "quick fixes" the council is pursuing to relieve traffic congestion on city streets.

Other improvements include adjusting signals along Lake Mead Boulevard between Jones Boulevard and Interstate 15 and adding travel lanes to Alta Drive between Tonopah Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive.

In the future, plans call for more lanes on Lake Mead, Cheyenne Avenue and Rainbow Boulevard and adding another left turn lane on Rancho for motorists turning left onto U.S. 95.
