Bill Welch of the Nevada Rural Hospital Project told County Commissioners last week that he did not have exact numbers yet, but patient use of the Nye Regional Medical Center is "way down," the Pahrump Valley Times reported on Friday.
Welch, who has been overseeing operations at the hospital for several months, said efforts were underway to find ways to cut prices even more, although past belt-tightening may be partly responsible for the ongoing problems.
"More than anything, it comes down to not having permanent physicians in place," he said.
