Ten arrested in complex narcotics case

The case began last summer and became the most complex drug investigation ever conducted by the Humboldt-Pershing narcotic task force, the combined agency said on Monday.

Some 40 law enforcement officers issued eight search warrants simultaneously on Friday, resulting in the 10 arrests on a variety of narcotics charges.

More than one pound of suspected methamphetamine was located along with cocaine, marijuana, night vision equipment, hand held radios, scanners and firearms.

Officials said the probe occasionally involved 24-hour surveillance of some of the suspects who were doing their own spying on the investigators.

The bust was coordinated by the Nevada Division of Investigation along with the Winnemucca police department, the Humboldt County sheriff's office and the Pershing County sheriff's office.

Those arrested, all from Winnemucca, were Juan Carlos Ruiz, 21; Yeseina Maurie Flores, 18; Jose Orozco Huerta, 34; Clemente Aceves Huerta, 39; Thomas Alan Peterson, 20; Alma Verduzco, 24; Nerio Ceballos, 18; Natividad Huerta, 39; Jeremiah Spry, 24, and Daniel Dwaine Spreier, 20.
