Man gets 4-10 in prison for giving girlfriend lethal dose of heroin

Sun, Jan 25, 1998 (12:50 p.m.)

Washoe District Judge Mills Lane on Friday gave George Harley Thompson III of Reno four to 10 years in prison.

His girlfriend, Yvonne Biscaard, 33, died Aug. 22 in a case that was considered a drug overdose until police gathered enough evidence to charge Thompson.

Thompson claimed he brought two syringes of heroin home. He injected himself with one and said Biscaard took the other. But a dose that was enough to get the veteran drug user high was enough to kill Biscaard.

Deputy District Attorney Egan Walker siad Thompson was wrapped up in his own pleasure and did not call emergency personnel as Biscaard lay dying.
