Max Alvis Jr., 38, of Primm died Aug. 26, in a local hospital. He was born July 6, 1960, in Eureka, Calif. A resident for eight years, he was a cook and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his father, Max Alvis Sr. of Commerce, Ga.; his mother, Bonnie McReynolds of Suquamish, Wash.; one sister, Debra Alvis of Mt. Vernon, Wash.; two brothers, Austin Alvis of Commerce and Gary McReynolds of Suquamish; and his grandmother, Alice Alvis of Cullman, Ala.

A memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

FRANCES ANN ANDERSON

Frances Ann Anderson, 87, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local care center. She was born April 19, 1911, in Farmington, W.Va. A resident for 18 years, she was a nurse.

She is survived by three sons, Richard, Ronald and Russell; two daughters, Ruth P. Schare and Roberta Baillie; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 3 p.m. Thursday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

LEONARD E. BABIN

Leonard E. Babin, 71, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 18, 1926, in Massachusetts. A resident for nine years, he was an electronics engineer for the federal government, a World War II and Korean War Navy veteran, a member of the Las Vegas Amateur Radio Club and American Legion Post 434.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian; two daughters, Donna J. Roden and Leanne M. Hansen; one sister, Elizabeth Keefe; and four grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

DONALD BANKER

Donald Banker, 90, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born Dec. 1, 1907, in Wisconsin. A resident for 26 years, he was a retired planning supervisor for a steel manufacturer.

He is survived by his wife, Antoinette; one daughter, Joan Elmeier of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were 8 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Memorial Park, downtown. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

JOYCE SEILER BANTA

Joyce Seiler Banta, 60, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born July 5, 1938, in Lefor, N.D. A resident for nine years, she was a banquet and catering secretary.

She is survived by her husband, Roger; three sons, Russell Banta of Coon Rapids, Minn., Robert Banta of Las Vegas and Ronald Banta of Maple Lake Minn.; four sisters, Helen Wallace of Renton, Wash., Ann Kampf of Circle Pines, Minn., Grace Tommerdahl of St. Paul, Minn., and Judy Sheridan of Minneapolis; one brother, Steve Seiler of Dickinson, N.D.; and three grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

LEON BLUMFIELD

Leon Blumfield, 89, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 19, 1909, in Pennsylvania. A resident for 20 years, he was a businessman, a retired Postal Service employee and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Robin Lee Mittleman, two sons, Charles Blumfield and Dr. Curtis Blumfield, one brother, Dr. Gene Blumfield, and one sister, Eleanor Luster, all of California; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

SUSAN OLDS BONZO

Susan Olds Bonzo, 46, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 17, 1952, in Cedar City, Utah. A resident for 22 years, she was a homemaker and served as a den mother in the Cub Scouts for many years and was active in the LDS Primary program, serving as both accompanist and in the Primary presidency.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; one daughter J'Amie Bonzo, three sons, Nathan Bonzo, Jesse Bonzo and Zachery Bonza, all of Las Vegas; her parents, Andrew and Virginia Thorley Olds of Cedar City, Utah; two brothers, Daniel T. Olds of Las Vegas and Gary Olds of Arlington, Va.; two sisters, Margie Rector of Schenectady, N.Y., and Carolyn Johnston of St. George, Utah.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to 10 a.m. services Thursday in New Forest LDS Ward Chapel, 4545 New Forest Drive. Burial will be in Cedar City, Utah.

IRENE R. BRIN

Irene R. Brin, 74, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. She was born July 18, 1924, in Indiana. A resident for 17 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three sons, Harold, Jerome and David; three daughters, Sharon Chappell, Deborah Ridings and Corrine Brin-Pedrosi; one brother, Larry Joe Woods; one sister, Helen Draper; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Daniel Brian Brotcke, 39, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. He was born May 25, 1959, in Van Nuys, Calif. A resident for two years, he was a pipe layer in the construction industry for 15 years and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Marie; one daughter, Samantha Jo Brotcke of Carson City; his father, Nicholas Brotcke of Payson, Ariz.; his mother and stepfather, Nancy and Charles Turnage of Big Bear City, Calif.; two brothers, Bruce Brotcke of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Richard Turnage of Burbank, Calif.; two sisters, Carolyn Kemsley of West Hills, Calif., and Sharon Chrisman of Simi Valley, Calif.; and his grandparents, Charles and Leah Perry of Oceanside, Calif.

Josephine H. Corsa, 82, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 28, 1915, in New York state. A resident for 15 years, she was a photostat operator.

Zoe Flourens, 70, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. She was born Dec. 27, 1927, in Rocky Comfort, Mo. A resident for four years, she was a retired city government secretary.

She is survived by one son, Rian Flourens of Las Vegas; and three sisters, Willis Schultz of La Habra Heights, Calif., Irene Davidson of California and Lucille of Missouri.

Jan C. Freivogel, 69, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local health care center. She was born Feb. 20, 1929, in California. A resident for 15 years, she was a Clark County School District payroll employee.

ANN A. GALLO

Ann A. Gallo, 83, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born March 8, 1915, in Luzerne, Pa. A resident for 20 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

JOHN A. GASTON

John A. Gaston, 34, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 22, 1963, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a laborer for American Asphalt Co.

He is survived by his wife, Alma L.; six sons, Joachim Gaston, William Gaston, John A. Gaston Jr., Donte Woods, Anthony Gaston and Brandon Gaston, four daughters, Jontrice Gaston, Johnae Williams, Annie Ruth Washington and Ikema Smith, his mother, Helen Gaston, and three brothers, Edward Gaston, Michael Gaston and Jesse Colins Jr., all of Las Vegas; three sisters, Annie Collins of San Bernardino, Calif., Valerie Collins of Las Vegas and Diane Collins of Texas; and his grandmother, Pastor Almary Gaston of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in the Greater Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church, 1915 Lexington St. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Dennis Hafen, 57, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 11, 1940, in Huntington Park, Calif. A resident for 36 years, he was the owner and operator of OK Tires in Henderson.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; one daughter, Denise Hafen Palmer, and three sons, Tony Hafen, Jim Hafen and Curtis Hafen, all of Las Vegas; his mother, Vilda Jolley Hafen, one sister, Mary Hafen Snow, and one brother, Dale Hafen, all of St. George, Utah; and seven grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 11 a.m. services Friday in Cholla Street LDS Chapel, 303 South Cholla, Henderson. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Henderson.

Eldon Hatley, 70, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 15, 1928 in North Dakota. A resident for many years, he was an electronics equipment operator.

He is survived by one daughter, Eldryce Hansen of North Dakota.

Dale E. Johnson, 66, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local health care center. He was born Aug. 24, 1932, in Peoria, Ill. A resident for 34 years, he was a casino bartender for 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Lori; two sons, David Johnson of Hawaii and Dan Johnson of Tennessee; one brother, Donald Wade Johnson of Yuma, Ariz.; and one grandson.

She is survived by her husband, Brent; two daughters, Tiffany Kitchen and Crystal Kitchen, both of Las Vegas; her mother, Janet Haines of Bellingham, Wash.; one sister, Debra Haines of Salt Lake City; two brothers, Cameron Haines of Washington state and Chris Kemp of Salt Lake City; and her grandmother, Shirley Anderson of Riverton, Utah.

Harry Lambert, 69, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 7, 1929, in Camden, N.J. A resident for 1 1/2 years, he was a retired owner-operator of an office furniture business, a World War II Navy veteran, a member of Garden State B'rith Sholom Lodge 41 and South Jersey Hebrew Association, both in Cherry Hill, N.J.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene; three brothers, Ben Lambert of Pennsauken, Pa., Scottie Lambert of Cherry Valley, Calif., and David Lemberskie of Mount Laurel, N.J.; and one sister, Evelyn Horner of New Port Richey, Fla.

Robert Hancock Simmons, 80, of Long Beach, Calif., died Tuesday in a Long Beach hospital. He was born Aug. 15, 1918, in Fairfield, Ill. A former resident of Boulder City for 20 years, he was an employee of Vo-Tech High School for 10 years, a retired Army sergeant and a World War II and Korean War veteran.

He is survived by two sisters, Frona Buckley of Long Beach and Loretta Harris of Louisville, Ill.

Leroy Matthew Thornton Jr., 73, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Aug. 25, 1925, in New York state. A resident for three years, he was a quality control employee in the aerospace industry and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Florence; five sons, Leroy M. Thornton III of Columbus, Ohio, Richard J. Thornton of Santa Clara, Calif., Gregory P. Thornton of Aliso Viejo, Calif., and Timothy T. Thornton and William P. Thornton, both of San Diego; one daughter, Mary L. Straight of Jefferson City, Mo.; and 10 grandchildren.

Donald Vincent Truitt Sr., 70, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. He was born July 4, 1928, in Peoria, Ill. A resident for four years, he was a retired electrician for a refinery and a Korean War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Yaeko; five sons, Donald Truitt Jr. and James Truitt, both of Carson, Calif., Charles Truitt of Montclair, Calif., Michael Truitt Sr. of Las Vegas and J.D. Delorme of Los Angeles; one daughter, Mary Truitt of Los Angeles; three brothers, Eugene Truitt of Las Vegas and Jack Truitt and Charles Truitt, both of Peoria; one sister, Regina Tilton of Las Vegas; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He is survived by one son, Paul Tutnick of Sedona Ariz; one daughter, Shirley Serat of Phoenix; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

VELMA R. ZOOK

Velma R. Zook, 91, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 1, 1907, in McCook, Neb. A resident for 57 years, she was a waitress/cook.

She is survived by one son, Donald Zook of Pahrump; two sisters, Hazel Timmons and Wanda Burnside, both of Casper, Wyo.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-8 p.m. Thursday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday in Bunkers Chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens.
