Jessie Boyd

Jessie Boyd, 57, of Las Vegas died Nov. 18 in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 26, 1943. A resident for many years, he was a laborer in the construction industry.

Graveside services were scheduled at 10 a.m. today in Woodlawn Cemetery. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, handled arrangements.

Odessa Marie Brown-Murray

Odessa Marie Brown-Murray, 62, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 3, 1938, in Arcola, Miss. A resident for eight years, she was a retired supervisor for a laundry company and a member of the Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research Inc.

She is survived by her husband, Cleodus; three daughters, Joyce Benson and Barbara Tanner, both of San Leandro, Calif., and Brenda Griffin of Sacramento; three sons, Donald Griffin of Crowder, Miss., Danny Brown of Oakland, Calif., and James Brown of Escondido, Calif.; two sisters, Kathleen Prater and Mertha Woods, both of North Las Vegas; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, Downtown.

Martha J. Chase

Martha J. Chase, 81, of Henderson died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 25, 1919, in Pueblo, Colo. A former resident of Las Vegas for six years and most recently a resident of Henderson for 20 years, she was a retired executive assistant for the Employers Association, a member of the Children's Service Guild and the Heritage Museum Guild and a charter member of the Black Mountain Country Club.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

The family suggests donations to the Clark County Heritage Museum, 1830 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89015.

Laurie Chavez

Laurie Chavez, 49, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 28, 1951, in Fall River, Mass. A resident for 15 years, she was a chief pit clerk for the Luxor.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Sean O'Brien of San Diego and Christian Chavez of Las Vegas; two daughters, Laurie Jean Starr of Orlando, Fla., and Tracy Anne Chavez of Las Vegas; her mother, Dolores Bergeon of Las Vegas; and five grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Friday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Burial will be private.

Carroll James Cooney

Carroll James Cooney, 87, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 30, 1913, in Wallingford, Conn. A resident for one year, he was a retired Army master sergeant and World War II and Korean War veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie G.; one daughter, Carol C. Taubert of Las Vegas; one sister, Rita Stankwitz of Wallingford, Conn.; and three grandchildren.

Josephine Coppola

Josephine Coppola, 77, of Las Vegas died Dec. 17 in Las Vegas. She was born May 30, 1923, in New York. A longtime resident, she was a nurse's assistant and a member of the Italian American Club.

She is survived by one brother, Olinto Bellettini of Van Nuys, Calif.

Daren Bernard Culley

Daren Bernard Culley, 33, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 27, 1967, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was a specialty craftsman for Phoenix Presentation.

He is survived by one son, Ryan Dube, his mother, Jeri Ann Culley, his companion, Dawn Dube, one brother, Donnie Culley, one sister, Denise Culley-Miller, and his grandmother, Helen Robinson, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. services Saturday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Zenobia Flowers

Zenobia Flowers, 84, of North Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 10, 1916, in Arkansas. A resident for 4 1/2 years, she was an analyst for the federal government.

She is survived by one sister, Gladys Broyles of North Las Vegas.

Dora B. Gromley

Dora B. Gromley, 78, of North Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born March 23, 1922, in Tecumsey, Okla. A resident for 42 years, she was a retired telephone operator and a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

She is survived by her husband, James; one son, John David Gormley of Alamo; four grandchildren and one grandchild.

Services were scheduled at 10 a.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., followed by burial in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., handled arrangements.

Dolores Jackson

Dolores Jackson, 65, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. She was born July 24, 1935, in Chicago. A resident for three years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, James; three sons, John Jackson of Highland Park, Ill., James Jackson of Horseshoe Bend, Idaho, and Brian Jackson of Las Vegas; one daughter, Patricia Kuczkowski of Lemont, Ill.; eight brothers, Roger Weingart and Chester Weingart, both of Chicago, Raymond Weingart of Newell, S.D., James Weingart of Bolingbrook, Ill., Tom Weingart of Orland Park, Ill., John Weingart of Wooddale, Ill., Kenny Weingart of Hoffman Estates, Ill., and Dennis Weingart of Bartlett, Ill.; six sisters, Jane Warke of Punta Gorda, Fla., Susan Padilla and Lucille Gaile, both of Chicago, Patricia Malchaski of Chula Vista, Calif., Kay Lozano of Laredo, Texas, and Josephine Hanson of Oceanside, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren.

Leopoldo V. Jimenez

Leopoldo V. Jimenez, 71, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born May 14, 1929, in the Philippines. A resident for one year, he retired in 1993 as a mechanical engineer at Ford Motor Co.

He is survived by his wife, Salvacion E.; four daughters, Gloria J. Morales of Topsham, Maine, Elizabeth J. Montes and Maria Teresa J. DeLeon, both of Las Vegas, and Maria Corazon J. Libres of Dearborn, Mich.; three sons, Dr. Arthur E. Jimenez of Grand Terrace, Calif., Dr. Francis E. Jimenez of Las Vegas and Dr. Eric E. Jimenez of the Philippines; one brother, Roberto V. Jimenez of the Philippines; three sisters, Gloria V. Jimenez of Toronto, Virginia J. Bonuel of Fresno, Calif., and Lydia V. Jimenez of Chicago; and 11 grandchildren.

Charles W. Kearns

Charles W. Kearns, 68, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. He was born Oct. 14, 1932, in Brainerd, Minn. A resident for 38 years, he was a retired police officer.

He is survived by his wife, Norma; one daughter, Terri Soukup of Stillwater, Minn.; one stepdaughter, Cheri Smith of Las Vegas; one stepson, Clark Poulton of Oregon City, Ore.; one sister, R'Milla Fisher of Minnesota; one brother, Robert Kearns of Arnold, Calif.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday in Shadow Hills Baptist Church, 4400 W. Oakey Blvd. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Anna M. Kitchen

Anna M. Kitchen, 102, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 22, 1898, in Pittsburgh. A resident for nine years, she was a homemaker and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by one son, Walter Kitchen of Las Vegas; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Bertrand H. Levesque

Bertrand H. Levesque, 84, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. He was born June 2, 1916, in Fall River, Mass. A resident for 25 years, he was a retired Navy commander and World War II veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Willa.

Joan A. Lotito

Joan A. Lotito, 47, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born May 6, 1953, in Chicago. A resident for 11 years, she was a customer service representative for Citibank.

She is survived by her husband, John J.; one daughter, Julie Lotito, and one son, John W. Lotito, both of Las Vegas; her father, John Hunt, and her mother, Joyce Walsh, both of Chicago.

Doris Louise Lunt

Doris Louise Lunt, 69, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 27, 1931, in Yuma, Ariz. A resident for 33 years, she was a cosmetologist.

She is survived by her husband, Del; one daughter, Sandra Wagner of Sonora, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Leasa Foust and Valerie Ward, both of Salt Lake City; two brothers, Frank Hyde of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and James Hyde of Fairfield Glade, Tenn.; two sisters, Dorothy Young of Grass Valley, Calif., Jean Wilson of Strasburg, Calif., and Catherine Poole of Yucaipa, Calif.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Dolores I. Miller

Dolores I. Miller, 76, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 30, 1923, in Chicago. A resident for five years, she was a retired casino cashier and a member of Los Prados Women's Club.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph Smith of San Juan Bautista, Calif., and G. Scott Miller of San Francisco; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Martha M. Miller, 71, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born April 23, 1929, in Wabeseka, Ark. A resident for 48 years, she was a hotel housekeeper.

She is survived by five daughters, Bobbie Gilmore, Mary Collins, Brenda Feaster, Ann Brown and Sandra McDonnell, and four sons, Bill McDonnell, Michael McDonnell, Kenny McDonnell and Gordy McDonnell, all of Las Vegas; four brothers, Cabe Polk of Wabeseka and Alonzo McGhee, Fred Polk Jr. and Willie Polk, all of Las Vegas; two sisters, Viola Polk of Las Vegas and Iola Johnson of Pahrump; 30 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Franklin Powell Phelps

Franklin Powell Phelps, 83, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 2, 1917, in Illinois. A resident for many years, he was a food store owner.

He is survived by one son, Randle Phelps of Las Vegas.

Frank E. Prochaska

Frank E. Prochaska, 92, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born July 14, 1908, in New York City. A resident for 15 years, he was a supervisor in the aerospace industry.

He is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Resler of Las Vegas; three brothers, Emil Prochaska, Fred Prochaska and Joseph Prochaska; one sister, Ethel Taudell; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 8 p.m. today in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

George Rogy

George Rogy, 76, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local convalescent hospital. He was born Sept. 9, 1924, in Homestead, Pa. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired aerospace engineer and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Judy O'Hara and Tammy Rogy, and two sons, Zane Rogy and Cody Rogy, all of Las Vegas; two brothers, Charles Rogy and John Rogy, both of Pittsburgh; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. A private burial will follow.

Clayton Shampine, 53, of Las Vegas died Nov. 16 in North Las Vegas. A laborer in the construction industry, he was born March 18, 1947.

He is survived by his wife, Irma F.; one daughter, Marsha Shapiro of Kansas City, Mo.; one son, Larry Shapiro of Morgan Hill, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Sheila Skeens of Memphis, Tenn.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Milda A. Summers, 94, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local care center. She was born Nov. 4, 1906, in Beaver Township, Iowa. A resident for six years, she was a retired restaurateur.

She is survived by one sister, Edith Dettloff of Arcadia, Wis.; and one brother, Willard Aswegan of Plummer, Idaho.

Lyle Franklin Thompson

Lyle Franklin Thompson, 80, of Las Vegas died Monday in Indian Springs. He was born June 30, 1920, in Burley, Idaho. A resident for 32 years, he was a commercial painter, a past president of the Lions Club in California and a high priest in the LDS Church.

He is survived by his wife, Vada "Mickey"; two daughters, Joyce Lynn Berry of Indian Springs and Janet Faye Stewart of Las Vegas; one sister, Mary Swan of Edwards, Calif.; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. today in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in the LDS Viking and Sandhill chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Mausoleum, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.

Thelma L. Tuvey

Thelma L. Tuvey, 82, of Henderson died Saturday in Henderson. A resident for eight years, she was a retired secretary for a jet propulsion lab, a volunteer for the Boulder City Senior Center, a member of Helping Hands and a school tutor.

She is survived by her husband, Donald; one daughter, the Rev. Terry Tuvey Allen of Arcadia, Calif.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Christ Lutheran Church, 1401 Fifth St., Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
