UNLV’s NCAA hearing postponed until Sept.

UNLV will have to wait a little longer before the NCAA Infractions committee determines the fate of its men's basketball team which is facing allegations of impropieties within the program.

UNLV's hearing, originally scheduled for Aug. 11-13 in Beaver Creek, Colo., has been pushed back -- at the NCAA's request -- to Sept. 22-24 in Dallas.

The delay is believed to be the result of the NCAA needing more time to rule on a case involving the University of Minnesota men's basketball team.

UNLV associate athletic director Jerry Koloskie couldn't confirm that the Minnesota business pushed UNLV off the Aug. 10-13 Beaver Creek agenda, but said that's probably the case.

"Obviously, we were prepared to go in August," Koloskie said. "We're a little disappointed, but we understand that the NCAA has an agenda to follow and obligations to other institutions, so we have to wait our turn.

"We had wanted the August date because of the impact on recruiting. Putting it off until September puts us closer to (the November signing period). That's the only negative from that perspective."
