Event scheduled Tuesday at Rio

Career Fair Group is holding Las Vegas Career Fair for all levels of positions on Jan. 8.

People will be able to meet more than 17 local and national companies from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Rio hotel. The companies, which range from restaurants to computer programming and web development, will be looking for employees for entry to high level positions.

Training planned for caregivers

The Alzheimer's Association of Southern Nevada is holding caregiver group facilitators training Jan. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon.

The facilitator will lead a support group for caregivers. This will require a commitment by the volunteer to make weekly or bi-weekly meetings or be available on a fill-in basis.

The training will be at the group's office at 5190 S. Valley View Blvd. Anyone interested in attending or receiving more information on the Alzheimer's Association should call 248-2770.

Silent auction on tap Wednesday

The Boulder Gem Club will hold its annual fund-raiser silent auction Jan. 9 at 7:30 p.m.

The event is open to the public, who can bid on everything from household items to tools to decorative gems and rocks.

The auction will be in the Multi-Use Building at 1204 Sixth St., Boulder City. For more information call Sue McCullough at 293-7853.

Gibson center to offer program

The Gibson Community Center is offering a free after-school program Monday through Thursday from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The 21st Century Community Learning Center offers children educational and recreational opportunities in a safe environment.

For the first hour and a half the students can get tutorial help for homework, computers and cooking. They then get a snack and participate in activities such as rock climbing, skating and bowling.
