Deaths ruled murder-suicide

Two Oklahoma residents, whose bodies were found Friday morning inside a pickup in the desert, died in a murder-suicide, Metro Police said.

A security officer from a construction site near Fort Apache and Russell Road discovered the bodies of a man and woman about 7 a.m. with apparent gunshot wounds in the head.

The Clark County Coroner today identified them as Lendell D. Martin, 38, of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Shannon Marie Richardson, 26, of Bixby, Okla.

Metro said Martin apparently shot Richardson before turning the gun on himself.

Man arrested in wife's death

Metro Police arrested Juan Jimenez, 36, in the shooting death of his 34-year-old wife Saturday evening.

Metro received a call about 6:45 p.m. that a woman had been shot at her home, in the 1400 block of Basin View Court.

She was identified today by the Clark County Coroner as Tammy Jimenez of Las Vegas. Metro officers found her body in a bedroom.

Juan Jimenez surrendered to patrol officers when they arrived at the couple's home. After further investigation by homicide detectives he was was taken to the Clark County Detention Center and booked on one count of murder with the use of a deadly weapon.

Boy who died in ATV crash ID'd

A 15-year-old Las Vegas boy who died in a single all-terrain vehicle accident Friday was identified today by the Clark County Coroner as Donald Soberdash.

Metro Police said Soberdash was driving the four-wheel vehicle up a dirt mound in the desert two miles north of Decatur Boulevard and Farm Road about 2 p.m. when it lost traction and rolled.

Soberdash and the vehicle fell about 18 feet, police said.

He was not wearing a helmet, Metro Police said.

LV woman dies in two-car crash

A Las Vegas woman died in a two-car accident Friday afternoon at the intersection of Eastern and Hacienda avenues.

The dead woman was identified today by the Clark County Coroner as Juanita Jamerson, 55, of North Las Vegas. She was a passenger in a Subaru driven by Anniva Brown, 33, of Las Vegas, Metro Police Detective Doug Nutton said.

Brown was driving southbound on Eastern Avenue about 1 p.m. when she tried to make a left turn onto Hacienda. Her car collided with a northbound Nissan driven by Jerome Candate, 32, of Las Vegas.

Jamerson was taken to Desert Springs Hospital, but died shortly after arriving.

Brown was taken to University Medical Center. Jerome Candate and Danae Candate, 9 months old, were not injured, Nutton said.

The investigation is continuing.

Work to begin on Arizona road

Arizona's State Route 95 near Bullhead City is due for a facelift along 7.5 miles beginning today.

The Arizona Department of Transportation, the City of Bullhead and Kiewit Western Co. begin a two-month project costing an estimated $1.5 million to repave the highway.

Business access will remain open at all times between Davis Dam Highway and Marina Boulevard.

Most of the construction work will be completed at night. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
