Reno-based slot manufacturer International Game Technology announced it has formed a lottery division, which will oversee business lines acquired in IGT's acquisition of Anchor Gaming late last year.
Three Anchor subsidiaries -- AWI, VLC and United Tote -- will be placed within the new division. The division's president will be Christer Roman, who managed the companies prior to the IGT takeover.
The companies sell computer systems used by state-run lotteries, as well as video lottery terminals, slot machine-like devices used by state lotteries to generate additional revenue.
IGT had sold gaming devices to state-run lotteries prior to the merger with Anchor through its Public Gaming department. This business unit will now be shifted to IGT's Gaming division, and will now focus on "casino-style government-run and (government)-regulated gaming at racetrack and pari-mutuel locations."
Markets of focus for the public gaming unit include Delaware, Rhode Island and West Virginia, "as well as new locations that may be created as a result of gaming expansion in new jurisdictions."
