Columnist Peter Benton: Heinen leads way among SNGA players

Peter Benton's golf column appears Wednesday.

With the season winding down, Eddie Heinen's 322 points lead the player of the year standings in the Southern Nevada Golf Association's championship division.

Bryen Davis follows with 267.5. Brady Exber, 222.5; Frank Acker, 181.2; and Alan Bluhm, 155; round out the top five.

Jim Licausi heads the net division standings with 192.2 points. He is followed by John Wright, 178.4; Terry Henslee, 153; Tony Troilo, 132.6; and Butch Avant, 112.7.

Jim Saub Jr. has what appears to be an insurmountable lead in the senior division with 295 points. Dave Gubler is next with 143.3 followed by Brent Fenstermaker, 141.2; Sev Leoffler, 136.3, and Mark Morrow, 124.2.

Jeff LeMaster placed second with a 71 while Mike Ruiz and Pat Laverty shared third with even-par 72s.

Chris Kalfleisch was the boys 13-14 victor with a 36 followed by Davis Garner at 39. Ryan Kuehl and Zach Swarts tied for third with 40s.

Chris Viravongsa shot a 38 to win the boys 11-12 flight over Raymond Gillip and Sung Won Lee, who had 42s.

Kyle Melchiorre won the boys 9-10 with a 29. Tyler Spitler placed second at 31 and Anthony Lee and Brett Yee tied for third with 38s.

Ryan Baeza won the boys 6-8 with a 27. Gunner Braden placed second with 28 and Frank Frisbee and Luke Logan tied for third with 31s.

Chloe Nelson won the girls 15-17 with a 40, followed by Alexandra Gibson at 42 and Mackenzie Mack at 46.

Alex Borcherts won the girls 11-14 with a 45, followed by Kryce Higa and Sydnee Mack with 46s.

Taylor Bland won the girls 9-10 division with a 36 followed by Tameka Demps. Julia Graham and Lea Garner came in with 29s in girls 6-8.
