As we approach Election Day, many Americans are in a quandary on how to vote. On the one hand, they -- like most Americans -- support President Bush in his fight against al-Qaida, but realize that his domestic programs have been a disaster.
They watch Republican candidates leave skid marks as they try to distance themselves from the GOP platform plan to link Social Security to the stock markets, which have dropped some 40 percent since George W. took office.
They are appalled at the many corporate executives, paid like movie stars, and major contributors to the GOP, looting their companies, leaving their employees and investors to join the millions more who have lost their jobs and seen their lives ruined.
They are aghast at the Republicans in Congress who have rejected the senior prescription drug plan linked to Medicare, while their leaders in the House refuse to allow a vote on a generic drug plan which passed the Democratic Senate.
Can it be less than two years ago, as Bill Clinton left office, that we were running large surpluses, unemployment was at a record low, and paying off the national debt was within our grasp? And now the present chaos?
George W. Bush's domestic policies, when he has them, have been disastrous, with only the most rabid Republicans and simple people believing the economy will soon improve. Vote Republican? Not this voter!
