Missing-persons case now homicide probe

Mon, Sep 30, 2002 (10:58 a.m.)

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of William Rundle in the possible homicide of his wife, Shirley Rundle.

The couple were last seen at their home near Tropicana Avenue and Buffalo Drive on Aug. 17 and were later reported missing by a family member, Metro Police said.

Blood found at the home in the 4700 block of Poppywood Drive has been identified as female and consistent with the blood belonging to Shirley Rundle.

Metro Police homicide Sgt. Rocky Alby said that detectives are treating the investigation as a homicide, and that a warrant was issued for William Rundle on Friday.

"There were some male clothes missing from the home," Alby said.

That along with other evidence that Alby would not elaborate on led to detectives seeking the warrant.

Metro searched the Rundle's home earlier this month and discovered the blood and missing clothing. A note was found saying that the couple were going out of the country for a family emergency, but relatives were contacted in the Philippines and reported there was no emergency, and they had not seen the couple, police said.

The couple's 2001 white, four-door Buick with Nevada license plate, "HONEYBUN" is also missing.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Metro's homicide unit at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
