Letter: Treat legislators like the children they’re ignoring

Tue, Jul 1, 2003 (9:07 a.m.)

I went to school in Iowa. They don't seem to have a problem funding a good education there, but here in Nevada it's a big issue.

What do we elect these people for if they don't want our children to get an education? The state assemblymen have higher educations. Don't they want our children, our future, to follow in their footsteps to take over their jobs someday?

If it doesn't take a lot of common sense to be a politician in Nevada, then maybe I should run for office. I mean, I have a master's degree and could probably do just as good a job as they are right now. We elected them to do a job and all they do is throw fits because they can't have things their way. My children could do that!

Maybe we should just elect our children into office. Then they can go to Carson City and do what our assemblymen are doing right now, and then all we have to pay them is a weekly allowance and cookies and milk.

Just think about it the next time we are all at the polls, because I don't think many of our state representatives are going to be in office come next election time.
