Red Rock offering burger for trash

The Red Rock Canyon Interpretive Association invites the public to the Burger for a Bag of Trash picnic from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday for a picnic and cleanup event.

This is a chance to get to find out about the programs offered by Red Rock Canyon and the Bureau of Land Management, learn how to become a Friends of Red Rock Canyon member and get involved with public lands.

YMCA planning a big baby shower

The YMCA's Yes to Youth leadership program is sponsoring the Community Baby Shower from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at 4141 Meadows Lane.

Through the event, pregnant teens will receive education through workshops about stay-in-school programs, future pregnancy prevention, and other community assistance available to them.

Each participant will be given a baby shower gift basket filled with baby items donated by community sponsors.

Free health fair set at Doolittle

One Hundred Black Men of America Inc., a nonprofit organization designed to improve the quality of life for minorities, will present Move for Health, a free community health fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Doolittle Community Center, 1940 N. J St.

The health and wellness fair will offer on-site health screenings for vision and glaucoma, cholesterol and glucose, HIV/AIDS, and blood pressure. Mammograms for early cancer detection will also be available as well as oral cancer and dental screenings.
