Fishing continues to be good in the Overton Arm of Lake Mead with boaters and shore anglers catching largemouth and striped bass and channel catfish.
Coves north of Overton Beach Marina and those around Bighorn Island near Echo Bay have been producing largemouth bass with the fish being taken from shallow water. There have been reports of a couple of smallmouth bass also being caught near Echo Bay.
Jim Heinrich, Nevada Division of Wildlife (NDOW) biologist, said smallmouth bass were first seen by biologists in the lake in 1995 and small numbers remain, with the fish most frequently being seen in coves south of Echo Bay.
Stripers are being taken around Fish Island and from Overton Beach to the Muddy River. Channel catfish are being caught in the same areas with anchovies being used for bait.
