Fund-raiser set for scholarships

A fund-raiser will be held Wednesday and Thursday for the Anthony L. Pollard Foundation Rainbow Dreams Scholarship.

The foundation and Rainbow Medical Centers are sponsoring the "Art for Education" fine art and sculpture exhibition both days from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Four Seasons Hotel in the Palm Room.

It is the groups' major annual benefit to raise money for scholarships for disadvantaged high school seniors in the Clark County School District.

Wranglers to play tribute to heroes

The Red Cross and the Las Vegas Wranglers hockey team will team up Friday for Hail to Our Heroes at The Orleans Arena.

The event, to begin at 7 p.m., will honor those who serve or have served in the military or as firefighters, police officers, or public servants.

The entire Wranglers team will be wearing commemorative Veterans Day jerseys during the game in honor of the theme of the night.

Following the game the jerseys will be auctioned off at a reception hosted the players. There will be special give-aways and prizes during the game.

Part of the proceeds benefit the Southern Nevada Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Tortoise Trot to help Red Rock

The second annual Tortoise Trot, a four-mile competitive trail run and a two-mile noncompetitive trail run/walk will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday at Red Rock Canyon.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Friends of Red Rock Canyon, a nonprofit volunteer organization whose mission is to support the Bureau of Land Management in the protection and enrichment of the Red Rock Canyon. Call 255-8743.

Our Lady of Wisdom

Byzantine Catholic Church, 2120 Lindell Road, will hold its Wine and Cheese Party from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday to benefit the building fund. Call 873-5101.

The Salvation Army

in Henderson will immediately start hiring kettle workers/bell ringers for the Christmas season. Applications are being taken at 830 E. Lake Mead Drive. Call 565-9578.

Grace Evangelical Free Church,
