WASHINGTON -- Traci Scott is leaving her job as spokeswoman for Rep. Jon Porter, R-Nev., to go to Iraq to work as a press officer for the Coalition Provisional Authority, overseen by Ambassador L. Paul Bremer.
Adam Mayberry, now a spokesman for the Airport Authority of Washoe County, will take over as Porter's press secretary on Oct. 13.
Scott, 38, worked for Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., before joining Porter's congressional campaign in 2002.
Porter said in a statement Tuesday that he was sad to see her go but excited for her new position.
Ensign spokesman Jack Finn said he knows she will do a fine job for Bremer.
"We hope she stays safe and has a rewarding experience," Finn said.
Scott previously worked as a general assignment reporter for KLAS Channel 8, after spending 11 years at the CBS Washington bureau.
She has a master's degree in political management from George Washington University and a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from Howard University in Washington, D.C.
