Croquet contest glows Saturday

Las Vegas' first Glow-in-the-Dark Croquet contest will be held Saturday on the lawn of the Nevada State Museum and Historical Society in Lorenzi Park.

Players will be provided with glowing wickets and croquet balls and a complimentary hot dog as they compete for prizes such as a glow-in-the-dark croquet set, Scandia and movie tickets, and Macaroni Grill dinners.

Entry fee is $25, with proceeds benefiting the Shade Tree Shelter.

Volunteers sought to help seniors

The Jewish Family Services Agency needs shopper/transportation volunteers to do food shopping, take senior clients to the bank, a doctor's appointment or other activities.

Volunteers also will visit seniors in their homes, play cards or checkers, or write mail for them.
