HOUSTON -- Former Enron Corp. Treasurer Ben Glisan today pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit securities and wire fraud, becoming the highest-ranking former employee to admit wrongdoing in the accounting scandal that drove the energy trader into bankruptcy.
Glisan entered his plea in U.S. District Court in Houston and was sentenced to five years in prison. U.S. prosecutors said Glisan is not helping their investigation.
"We have witnesses and Mr. Glisan is not currently one of them," said Leslie Caldwell, head of the government's Enron Task force. "He was never cooperating and we never expected him to cooperate."
