Letter: Coinless slots are not as thrilling

Fri, Sep 26, 2003 (4:25 a.m.)

I live in New York City and I just read about coinless slots in the casinos. This is really appalling. Part of the joy of gambling in the slots is using coins and tokens, as well as the experience of hearing the "clinking" sound of a jackpot.

Without these, I have no desire to play. Getting a paper receipt would be the equivalent of receiving a credit card receipt. Who came up with this brainstorm? What next, paper craps and chips? I guess the casinos don't make enough profit from the public.
