Edwin Philip Barber

Edwin Philip Barber, 61, of Henderson died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 18, 1943, in Belleville, Ontario. A resident for 20 years, he was a professional gambler.

He is survived by four daughters, Shelley Evans of Las Vegas, Kim Shimbashi of Barnwell, Alberta, Robin Evans of Kelowna, British Columbia, and Lani Morrow of West Jordan, Utah; his parents, Mabel Irene and John Philip Barber of Kelowna; and 13 grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling private arrangements.

John Arnold Black

John Arnold Black, 85, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born April 7, 1919, in Mabscott, W.Va. A resident for 12 years, he was a retired insurance broker and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Alice; two sons, Gary Lee Tamietti of Lake Tahoe, Calif.; Robert Lynn Tamietti of Truckee, Calif.; and one grandchild.

Eileen M. McCann

Eileen M. McCann, 99, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. She was born April 18, 1905, in Billings, Mont. A resident for 57 years, she was a retired office manager for the Clark County assessor's office.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Davis.

She is survived by one son, Thomas McCann of Reno; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., followed by graveside services Thursday in Palm Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. is handling arrangements.

Chris McElhoes

Chris McElhoes, 45, of Henderson died Sunday in Henderson. He was born Jan. 28, 1959, in Inglewood, Calif. A resident for 5 1/2 years, he was a real estate executive.

He is survived by his wife, Misty; and two daughters, Nicole McElhoes and Emily McElhoes, both of Henderson.

Anna Miele

Anna Miele, 90, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. She was born Feb. 16, 1914, in Bayonne, N.J. A resident for 11 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three sons, Robert Miele of Las Vegas, Patrick Miele of New Hyde Park, N.Y., and Frank Anemone of Powhatan Point, Ohio; two daughters, Diane Fragola of Las Vegas and Mary Lou Mrozik of Albany, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be noon until a 3 p.m. service Thursday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Robert C. Myers

Robert C. Myers, 81, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born July 12, 1923, in New York state. A resident for 14 years, he was an owner of a collectable coin shop and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Rusty"; one son, Bubba; and one brother, Richard.

A memorial service will be 12:40 p.m. Jan. 7 in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd. is handling arrangements.

Christopher Lee Nelson

Christopher Lee Nelson, 20, of Las Vegas died Dec. 15 in Las Vegas. He was born July 5, 1984, in Las Vegas. He was a food resetter.

He is survived by his mother, Patty Walker of Las Vegas; his father, Brent Nelson of Provo, Utah; three sisters, Shawna Gilleland, Jennifer Cramer, and Rachael Cramer, and two brothers, Keith Stevens and Matt Cramer, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Palm Chapel, burial to follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Geneva Oliver

Geneva Oliver, 83, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local care center. She was born June 5, 1921, in Orangeburg, S.C. A resident for 12 years, she was a retired certified assistant nurse.

She is survived by her husband, William; one daughter, Contrina Woods of Pasadena, Calif.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until a 12 p.m. service Thursday in Zion United Methodist Church, 2108 N. Revere St. Burial will be in California. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. is handling arrangements.

Robert L. Pennock

Robert L. Pennock, 59, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born March 14, 1945, in Cheyenne, Wyo. A resident for four years, he was a retired mail clerk and an Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Tennant.

He is survived by his wife, Landa L.; two daughters, Lori A. Burris and Patti S. Donoghue, both of Las Vegas; three brothers, Keith Pennock, Raymond Pennock and Donald Pennock, all of Cheyenne; four sisters, Ruby West of Billings, Mont., Norma Peppinger of Washington state, and Deloris Pennock and Bette Tallabas, both of Cheyenne; and one grandchild.

Dorothy Peterson

Dorothy Peterson, 75, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born April 26, 1929, in Albuquerque. She was a retired baker and chef.

She is survived by two daughters, Star Araujo and Cathy Anderson, both of Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Earl J. Rugen

Earl J. Rugen, 74, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born July 10, 1930, in Fort Worth, Texas. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired medical engineer, a World War II and Korean War Army and Marine Corps veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; two stepdaughters, Denise and Maureen; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

There will be no services. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. is handling arrangements.

William L. Walsh

William L. Walsh, 44, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born April, 15, 1960, in Roswell, N.M. A resident for 30 years, he was an electrician and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Jennai Walsh of Chesapeake, Va.; his father, William J. Walsh of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Kimberly Kitto of Fort Mohave, Ariz., and Rebecca Walsh of Las Vegas.
