Treasury, HUD secretaries visiting Vegas

U.S. Treasury Secretary John W. Snow will be make three appearances in Las Vegas on Friday in an effort to highlight homeownership and job creation.

At 8:30 a.m. Snow will speak at a roundtable discussion with members of the Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association. Following that meeting, he will join Housing and Urban Development Secretary Alphonso Jackson on a tour of The Verandas at the Peaks, a housing development near Warm Springs Road and Rainbow Boulevard.

His final stop, accompanied by Jackson, will be a tour of the East Las Vegas Senior Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave. There he is expected to discuss affordable housing issues.

While Snow's aides said that the events were not designed as a political effort for President George W. Bush, a media advisors pointed out that "as a result of President Bush's tax policy reforms ... in Nevada 845,000 taxpayers will have lower income tax bills and more than 160,000 businesses will benefit in 2004."
