Golf will benefit Down syndrome
The annual Rhodes Homes Charity Golf Tournament will begin with registration and lunch at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Rhodes Ranch Golf Club to benefit Down Syndrome Organization Southern Nevada.
In addition to the tournament, raffle prizes will be given out, along with prizes for Hole-in-One, the Closet to the Pin Contest and the Longest Drive Contest.
The Down Syndrome group is a locally funded charity servicing Nevadans with Down syndrome. The organization's mission is to enlighten the public by promoting a positive understanding of Down syndrome in the community and to provide a source of support, information and education for families and individuals affected by the disease.

Screenings for stroke scheduled
Life Line Screening is offering screenings to residents to reduce the risk of having a stroke Friday at the Las Vegas Elk's Lodge 1468. Appointments will begin at 9 a.m.
Screenings are fast, painless and low cost. They involve the use of ultrasound technology, and scan for potential health problems related to: blocked arteries which can lead to a stroke, aortic aneurysms which can lead to a ruptured aorta, and hardening of the arteries in the legs. Also offered for men and women, is a bone density screening to assess their risk for osteoporosis.

The second meeting of the Las Vegas Modern Committee
