Letter: No proof to show life sprang from nonlife

Regarding Shirley Braverman's Feb. 10 letter, "Family planning blessed by modern science":

Ms. Braverman says that letter writer F. Jay Harrell's "grasp of science seems limited" when it comes to the subject of when life begins. Then she proceeds to "enlighten" us by claiming that "life occurred billions of eons ago when elements previously inanimate became alive."

Translated, I suppose that she is claiming that life arose from nonlife. And her evidence is ...? I don't think that any reputable scientist in the world would have the nerve to make that claim. Maybe we should all get our science lessons elsewhere.
