FLASHPOINT for Mar 4, 2006

Sat, Mar 4, 2006 (7:51 a.m.)

My colleague, Patrick Coolican, had an interesting piece in Friday's paper about the Culinary's hand-sitting act in the governor's race. The Sun's new political reporter pointed out how the state's most powerful labor force is sitting out a Democratic primary whose outcome it could well determine. The analysis here is interesting. Some will see the Culinary's neutrality as rendering irrelevant all those labor endorsements state Senate Minority Leader Dina Titus is touting. But others might say that Henderson Mayor Jim Gibson, who needs to find a way to carve out votes since he is not nearly so, ahem, Democratic, can't live without a Culinary nod. Let's see what happens at the labor convention.
