Letter: National ID cards would solve problems

Tue, Mar 7, 2006 (7:46 a.m.)

Regarding the waste and fraud travesty, such as people getting financial assistance when they didn't deserve it, which is being blamed on the Federal Emergency Management Agency for the Katrina disaster:

If there ever was a time for national identification cards the time is now. Don't give me the garbage that identification cards harm the poor. I would like to see an estimate on how much quicker these hurricane victims would have received aid if they had identification cards. On the same note I would be curious to see how much fraud would have been eliminated by identification cards.

I have never heard any of these politically correct bureaucrats give a plausible explanation on the possible harm that national identification cards could cause.
