Letter: Bush should have shown solidarity

Thu, Sep 6, 2007 (7:22 a.m.)

Am I the only one who noticed that President Bush was comfortably dressed in a short-sleeve shirt on his surprise visit to Iraq? While the soldiers, government officials and diplomats surrounding him were sweating out the sweltering 115-degree heat in long-sleeve combat fatigues and suits, Bush looked as if he were attending the annul Easter egg roll on the South Lawn of the White House.

It seems to me that out of respect for our heroic troops and a desire to show solidarity with them, Bush would have been more suitably attired.

But then what did I expect from a man who doesn't care about the will of two-thirds of the American public and nearly all the countries of the world to disengage from Iraq, a sense of propriety?
