El Mundo publisher Eddie Escobedo glows in the morning light of Dona Maria’s Tamale Restaurant during a Hispanics in Politics breakfast meeting.

With “55 suits, 55 hats and 55 matching pairs of shoes,” Escobedo is as well-known for his eye-catching ensembles as his many contributions to the Hispanic community. Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman and Clark County Commission Chairman Rory Reid have singled him out for his sartorial splendor.

“I do it for two reasons: because I like to look nice, and because the compliments keep encouraging me,” says Escobedo, who picks up the suits on his travels. While in Atlanta this weekend for the National Association of Hispanic Publications convention, he says, he plans to shop for a new suit, hat and matching shoes.
