North Las Vegas man dies in motorcycle crash

Mon, Aug 4, 2008 (2:08 p.m.)

A 32-year-old North Las Vegas man, Marc Allan Bailey, died Friday when his motorcycle crashed on Lake Mead Boulevard, the Nevada Highway Patrol said today.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Bailey was riding a 2005 Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound on Lake Mead east of Hollywood Boulevard, highway patrol spokesman Kevin Honea said.

For unknown reasons, Bailey's motorcycle crossed the double yellow center line and a westbound lane. He rode off the north roadway edge and off an embankment, striking a dirt mound, Honea said.

Bailey was thrown from the motorcycle, Honea said. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

The Nevada Highway Patrol has investigated eight fatal motorcycle crashes this year.
