Isolated storms in afternoon forecast

The valley has mostly dodged pop-up storms over the region the last few days, but Las Vegas has another chance of storms again today.

The National Weather Service said moist and unstable air has settled over the area, which could lead to another round of scattered afternoon storms. The main threat will be isolated flash flooding, forecasters said.

The mercury should reach about 107 degrees this afternoon with partly sunny skies. The average high on today's date at McCarran International Airport is 103 degrees, according to weather service records.

A 20 percent chance of rain will stay in the forecast until the weekend. Forecasters said drier air will begin to enter the valley Friday through early next week with sunny skies and highs near 102.
