flashpoint:

People voting early

Fri, Aug 8, 2008 (2 a.m.)

I have long railed against people who vote early, arguing

that it trivializes democracy’s most sacred right and also could prevent people from making the most informed decision. And, yes, shockingly, people continue to do it. This cycle, more than 50,000 Clark County voters will cast ballots before Election Day, without regard to what might happen this weekend or Monday. My guess is few of them know most of the names they cast ballots for, thus discharging their duty with the same thought they give to which box of cereal they choose. Then again, there are nearly 700,000 registered voters in Clark County, so only about 7 percent of the electorate is behaving lazily and ignorantly this cycle. Maybe people are listening, finally!
