The Democratic National Convention begins today in Denver and commences without one of Nevada’s key delegates — state Sen. Dina Titus, who is running for Congress. Her opponent, Rep. Jon Porter, is skipping the GOP festivities next week in St. Paul. This is so typical of the overthinking that goes on in campaigns. You have a chance as an elected official or candidate to go to a convention and you decide not to because you are afraid. Oh, the ostensible reason for both Titus and Porter is to concentrate on campaigning. But what they fear are pictures. Yes, pictures. Pictures that can be used against them in ads and/or mailers. Better safe than sorry. I am sure that will prevent Titus from linking Porter to the GOP leadership and vice versa.
