2,000 pounds of clothing sought

City National Bank branches throughout the Las Vegas Valley are collecting clothing for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Nevada. The banks have set a goal of one ton of clothing.

All nine branches and the regional office Summerlin have collection bins on display.

About 1,000 children and their families in Southern Nevada are served by Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the clothing drive is being held in time for back to school.

The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters is to help children reach their potential though professionally supported, one-on-one mentoring relationships. For more information call 952-4407 or 952-4415.

The twin-engine A-170LS video lightship will broadcast live television and streaming video, Web sites and static images on a 70-by-30-foot screen, a company statement said.

New lot open at airport

Travelers headed to McCarran International Airport should be aware of a new parking setup.

A new remote parking lot opened Aug. 25 just east of the McCarran Rent-A-Car Center off of Gilespie Street between Warm Springs Road and Interstate 215.

The airport's economy lot on Flight Path Avenue just east of Paradise Road will be closing permanently at 3 a.m. on Sept. 2 to make room for the construction of the third terminal.

Vehicles that enter before that deadline can remain parked in the lot through 3 a.m. on Sept. 15, at which time airport staff will relocate any remaining vehicles to other parking lots.

A new economy parking lot will open in time for this year's Thanksgiving travel rush. The 5,100-space lot will be on the west side of Paradise, just south of Tropicana Avenue.
