Plan ahead for parking changes

Travelers headed to McCarran International Airport should be aware of a new parking setup.

A new remote parking lot opened Aug. 25 just east of the McCarran Rent-A-Car Center off of Gilespie Street,.

The airport's economy lot on Flight Path Avenue just east of Paradise Road will close permanently at 3 a.m. on Sept. 2 to make room for construction of a third terminal.

Vehicles that enter before that deadline can remain parked in the lot through 3 a.m. on Sept. 15, at which time airport staff will relocate any remaining vehicles.

A new economy parking lot will open in time for this year's Thanksgiving travel rush. The 5,100-space lot will be on the west side of Paradise Road, just south of Tropicana Avenue.

Airport officials suggest that travelers plan ahead to know which lot they will use or find a ride to the airport.

Call the McCarran parking hotline at 261-5122 for more information.
