As air carriers revise their schedules throughout the year, they change routes, the number of flights available and the types of aircraft in service, all of which have a direct effect on capacity. This map shows the change in the average number of nonstop seats available per week to travelers departing Las Vegas from 2007 and 2008.

For example, there were nearly 5,000 fewer seats available on nonstop flights to airports in California during 2008 than in 2007. Increases in the number of direct flights (and therefore number of seats) to destinations such as San Francisco and Burbank were not enough to offset losses to Los Angeles, Oakland and Ontario.
