No one paid much attention

Tue, Feb 12, 2008 (2 a.m.)

No one paid much attention when the reports came out after the Nevada caucus that Barack Obama had 13 delegates to Hillary Clinton’s 12. It was part of the byzantine Democratic rules that allowed Obama to win more delegates despite losing the state. The New York Times, which has been doing pieces on the delegate counts and takes a more conservative view than most, wrote this weekend that it was “pointed out that Nevada’s national convention delegates would not actually be selected until April. That is correct, but the party’s rules indicate that, because Clinton’s vote was concentrated in Las Vegas, while Obama ran better across the state, he is likely to get 13 Nevada delegates to her 12.” Likely? Yes. Assuredly? We’ll see about that.
