Letter to the editor:

Obama has history

Fri, May 9, 2008 (2:03 a.m.)

Yes, Hillary Clinton voted for the war, but she wasn’t alone. President Bush pushed the legislation through quickly with little time for members of Congress to read the large number of documents. She, and many others, now regret that decision after seeing what a quagmire Bush has gotten the United States into.

Barack Obama’s associations with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., William Ayres and Tony Rezko show his lack of judgment. Like Bush, he keeps friends and associates way too long for his or the country’s good. This seems to be a longtime, ongoing pattern with Obama.

Unlike Obama, Clinton is not afraid to fight back, as she has shown in the Bill O’Reilly interview and the presidential debates. Voters know her baggage, but the more we learn about Obama the scarier he becomes.

Obama is an excellent speechmaker, but that doesn’t mean he would be an excellent president. If Clinton doesn’t get the nomination, I would not vote for John McCain or Obama, even though I’m a Democrat and have voted for 45 years.
