Wildfire’s smoke clouds Las Vegas skies

Tue, Sep 30, 2008 (10:33 a.m.)

Smoke from a 100-acre wildfire near Needles, Calif., increased hazy conditions in the Las Vegas Valley today, the National Weather Service said.

The wildfire was located in Topock Marsh near the Nevada-California border, the weather service said. The smoke spread across the valley on south to southwesterly winds this morning.

The murky brown haze could increase as temperatures warm up to the upper 90s today, the weather service said.

Winds are not expected to pick up in Las Vegas until Thursday.
