Housing collapse evident in falling tax appraisal values

Mon, Apr 6, 2009 (2 a.m.)

This map shows the average change in tax appraisal value between the close of rolls for fiscal 2009-10 and the previous year for single family homes in the valley, by ZIP code. It doesn't necessarily mean lower taxes for homeowners in the coming fiscal year, though. Many of the drops erase value gains made while homes were protected by the property tax cap implemented in 2005.
