WEATHER:

Las Vegas temperatures warming into mid 80s

Sun, Jun 7, 2009 (12:01 a.m.)

Pull out the sunscreen and head back to the pool -- Las Vegas temperatures are cranking back up a notch today.

After Saturday's cool and cloudy weather, where temperatures reached a high of only 80 degrees, today's afternoon temperatures should top out a little warmer: around 84 degrees with some sun, according to the National Weather Service.

That's still a bit cool. The normal high temperature for this date is 96 degrees, according to weather service records.

Weather service forecasters predict more clouds will be moving in during the evening, with tonight's low temperature falling to 69 degrees. That's just a little below the average low for this date of 70 degrees.

McCarran International Airport's rain gauge recorded a trace of rain between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Saturday. So far the city has had only 0.87 of an inch of rain this year, which is 1.41 inches below average.

No more rain is in the forecast until Tuesday, when there will be a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms, the weather service said.
