$6 million in stimulus aid on its way to Las Vegas area

WASHINGTON -- Clark County, Henderson, Las Vegas and North Las Vegas will begin receiving more than $6 million released today from President Barack Obama’s economic recovery package, Rep. Dina Titus announced.

Clark County’s Housing Authority will receive $1.7 million to modernize and develop public housing. Henderson will receive $304,711 in Community Development Block Grant funds to provide housing and employment opportunities to low income residents.

Titus, a Democrat who voted for the recovery bill, said, “this critical funding will invest in our communities while creating much-needed jobs as we work to turn our economy around."

Las Vegas will receive $2.1 million for homeless prevention and $1.37 million in CDBG funds. North Las Vegas will receive $677,704 for homeless prevention, $469,798 for housing and $443,222 in CDBG funds.

The White House has begun releasing various allocations from the bill passed by Congress and signed into law last month.
