A small earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 2.6 occurred about 3 a.m. Sunday beneath downtown Las Vegas.
The quake, recorded on a seismograph in Boulder City, 30 miles southeast of the epicenter, was also felt by a resident in Boulder City.
The University of Nevada, Reno's seismology laboratory also recorded the quake.
Although it is possible to feel a quake of that magnitude, no damages or injuries occur with a temblor of that size.
The magnitude is measured in Nevada on the Richter scale. Typically a quake larger than 4.0 magnitude can cause damages.
