Firefighters were called to a home early this morning to investigate a fire that caused an estimated $5,000 in damage, investigators say. No one was injured.
The fire occurred at a home on Queen Palm Drive in Summerlin, near Vegas Drive and Tenaya Way.
According to Tim Szymanski, spokesman for the Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, a male homeowner said smoke alarms woke him at approximately 1 a.m. The man crawled out a window on to a small roof over the garage to wait for help.
After waiting, the man re-entered the house and told investigators there had been a fire in the living room, but it was out, according to the report.
He called his father, who subsequently called 911.
There was no fire when firefighters arrived. An investigation suggests the fire was intentional, Syzmanski said.
