A week to remember
Las Vegas Sun reporters Ray Brewer and Steve Silver break down last week's truly memorable high school football action and preview this Friday's upcoming games. They also discuss the latest NIAA realignment news.
Expanded coverage
Silverado is known for its lethal running game, but lately it has surprised opponents through the air.
The Skyhawks moved the ball effectively both ways Friday night in a 53-7 beat down of Sierra Vista. Quarterback Trenton Tipton ran for three touchdowns and also threw for 100 yards.
Silverado coach Andy Ostolaza said his team had improved their passing game out of necessity.
“It’s something we have to do for league play,” Ostolaza said. “We have to be able to throw the ball when teams load the box against us.”
Even if teams do stack the box, they have a tough time stopping Silverado running back Terran Madu-Jules. Madu-Jules ran for nearly 250 yards against Sierra Vista.
“Madu came out and just killed them in the second half,” Ostolaza said.
