The Las Vegas area can expect another dry and warm summer day, with highs reaching about 105 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Locally gusty southerly winds can also be expected, the weather service said.

A weak low pressure system just off the coast today will move across the region, bringing isolated thunderstorms to the Sierra Friday and to central Nevada on Saturday, they said. A slight drop in the afternoon highs can also be expected with the trough, they said. However, afternoon highs will remain 101 to 105 in the valley through the weekend, they said.

At 4:56 a.m. today, the temperature at McCarran International Airport was 79 degrees. The normal low for today's date is 75 degrees. The record low was 56 degrees, set in 1963.

Around the valley just before 5 a.m., temperatures were 73 degrees at North Las Vegas Airport, 75 degrees at Nellis Air Force Base and 76 degrees at Henderson Executive Airport.

Temperatures in the valley were to rise today to 90 degrees by 9 a.m., to 100 degrees by noon and reach a high of 105 degrees by 4 p.m., forecasters said. The normal high for today's date is 101 degrees and the record high was 113 degrees, set in 1961.

Temperatures are expected to drop to 103 degrees by 6 p.m., to 96 degrees by 9 p.m. and to 90 degrees by midnight, forecasters said.
