A north Las Vegas Valley elementary school will donate $700 to the local Red Cross in support of the relief efforts in Japan after the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.
Merryhill School students will present the check to a Red Cross representative at 10 a.m. April 4. Children will be able to see a Red Cross disaster-response vehicle up close at the school event, 7605 Grand Teton.
Students and parents began a school-wide donation effort for Japan as part of Merryhill’s “Giving Without Walls” program.
“Giving Without Walls” is a program of Nobel Learning Communities, Inc., a national network of 180 private schools across the U.S. The program allows students to complete community service projects with instruction and reflection to teach civic responsibility.
